Abstract:

Red fox (Vulpes vulpes) distribution, relative abundance, and population trend data were collected from museum records, questionnaires to professional wildlife personnel, and field observations. With the possible exception of the Oklahoma Panhandle, red foxes occurred statewide in low abundance. Greatest abundance occurred in the oak-hickory forest in northeastern Oklahoma. Red fox numbers were reported to be decreasing or stable by most (73%) of the questionnaire respondents.
