Abstract:

Recent data of the presence of the Cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus Schreber, 1776) in the central Sahara have allowed to actualize his geographical distribution. Nevertheless, the estimation of populations numbers remains vague in the Ahaggar and Tassili n'Ajjer's region. The current status of the species in Algeria (according to criteria of the IUCN, 1994) is evoked. A brief analyzes of factors of regressions and the problem of protection of the Cheetah is stated in this study.
